Garra Shirt

Taken in the Fall of 1968 on the HRSS school compound here I am in the very first shirt that I had made. The dye used was a combination of indigo (blue) and so called "European" dye (the green). I bought the material when we were in Freetown and had it tailored by a man in Kenema. This photo was taken in the early morning by Susan and sent home to family in one of our letters. In the background is a peripheral section of Kenema across a swamp from where our school was. In the distance on the left is a glimpse of the Kambuii Hills to the north.
