I am excited to pass on this blog to my father, Peter Krusch. He was Peace Corp administrator 1969-1970ish we lived in Mekeni. I found the blog when I was searching about the garra fabric. We still have some and we want to share this vintage cloth. If anyone is interested in this cloth please contact me at If you want to get in touch with Peter, email me as well and I'll connect you!
Thanks, the little girl of 5 when I was there with the family. Nancy

I knew Peter when I was in Sierra Leone. If I remember correctly he was in community development as you noted - in the Northern Province. Your dad was a friend of Skip Smith (he was in Matotaka) - and Peter and Skip were the only Vermonters in our Peace Corps program at that time - I think I am correct at this. I think Skip has been in touch with Peter from time to time. I also live in Vermont (Norwich) since 1970 after we returned from Sierrsa Leone. Thanks for your comments. We also have a lot of garra still - and country cloth - and wax prints.
