One of a number of pictures that I took of this mysterious (to me) spirit. It came out near or at the end of the Bondo training. The women who either carried it or made up the entourage seemed entranced as they swayed back and forth around the village. This photo was taken in early 1970 in the village of Tokpombu in Nongowa Chiefdom of the Kenema District. {click to enlarge}Bonya, a wonderful singer who was our neighbor, can be seen hauling the Kendwi in the rear and looking out almost toward the camera.
