Bondo Gathering at Bitema Nongowa

Probably taken in the small village of Bitema several miles by road from where we lived - this shows a young Bondu girl all dressed in white and with clay dried on her skin. Our young friend Moiyatu (she lived across the road from us) is on the left with her hands on her hips. Next to her (to her left) is Bonya (she also lived across the road from us - she had a wonderful voice). In the orange head dress and tie-dyed blue lappa and in front row is Mama Hawa (she was one of the leaders of the area Bondo Society). There is another close up of this young Bondo initiate above.
