Crossing the Waanje to Pujehun

As netball coach for the HRSS - Kenema Secondary School team and for the TTC Kenema team my job was to also lead trips to other schools for games. I believe it was in early 1970 that we played HRSS Pujehun and on the way crossed the Waanje River by this rope ferry. Travel in Sierra Leone in those days was always a challenge as in rain season the latterite roads could be treacherous. During the dry season there was incredible heat and humidity, and the roads were very dusty.  At Pujehun we split with HRSS losing their game and the TTC winning.

Uncle Chad very little has changed as described in your experience. The raniny season creates treacherous roads and the dry season brings bust....and treacherous roads. But I have hope for our people.
