Pa Sam lived in the small village of Vaama Nongowa and near here he made an upland rice farm. This photo was taken at the end of the rainseason (probably October 1969). Near him to his right and on the log is his sling used to drive birds from eating the rice. His umbrella and overcoat are ready. The rainseason could be relatively cool especially when it was raining. His rice can be seen to his left.
