Above: taken probably at the small village of Bitema in the Nongowa Chiefdom this picture of a young Bondo initiate (Bondo Girl) with white clay on her skin - she stands next to the Bondo Devil and with a number of Bondo women who celebrate her "coming out." This was taken in 1970.
Above: One of many pictures of the Women's Secret Society devil known as the Bondo Devil(actually the same one as is in the top photo). Taken just south of our house off of Dama Road on this day there was quite a celebration with lots of singing. Here two women play the segburreh while the devil and some of its friends pose. This was taken in 1970.
