On one of my many treks via bush road out of Kenema, I often traveled to this very small village which sat next to the River Moa. It was here that Pa Sam (pictured elsewhere) and his wife Massa (also pictured elsewhere) lived. On one such early morning visit I came across these men who insisted that I take their picture. Vaama was made up of about 8 to 10 houses. As were most remote villages in those days it sat off the grid and far from the main road. From Vaama you could get a "ferry" which was really a long and hollowed out log, that during the rains crossed The Moa to Dama Chiefdom. Photo © by Chad Finer
