Kendwi at Tokpombu Nongowa

Nearing the end of the Bondo activities the devil known as Kendwi came out here pictured in the village of Tokpombu Nongowa in early 1970. Given its appearance I imagined it to represent a symbolic ending of the Bondo activity for the year - although this was conjecture on my part. In the photo - the leader of the local Bondo - Mama Hokey - is shown (wearing the somewhat orange blouse(docket) with feathers in her right hand and her back to the camera.
