On a Veranda - Sokurella

Days were hot in Sokurella with mid-day temperatures during the dry season approaching 100ºF. However the verandas of the Kuranko round-shaped houses were cool, with a differential providing enough to make it seem almost comfortable in the mid-day heat. The boy in aqua colored robe with finely decorated hat was one of a number of boys in the village who it seemed were being trained to be men - an initiation that was part of growing up in all rural areas of Sierra Leone.
